Writing Effective Client Records
Guidance Advisers, Information Advisers and Young People’s Workers must use the "1:1 Work" interaction type for face to face interactions with young people. The content of the interaction notes must meet record writing guidelines. Please click here for Record Writing Guidelines.
When adding this interaction, the category will default to “Core Clients” but “Non Core Clients” option is also available. Please use “Non Core Clients” option when delivering one to one work for young people who are not within our priority group. If there is any doubt please seek clarification from Jeannette Perkins. It is very important that we record accurately in this section for monitoring service delivery.
Level of Need
One of the reports that DfE require from us is a breakdown of the young people we see by level of need. These levels are described on ASPIRE as MINIMUM, SUPPORTED and INTENSIVE. Locally we would also like to use this information to ensure we are reaching the young people in our priority groups. It is therefore very important that as part of our record writing when we see a young person we change the default level of need setting of NOT DETERMINED to either minimum, supported or intensive. To help staff understand how to record this, YSS levels of need to fit have been mapped - details here.
